Quillons/Cross-guards and Pommels
for Rattan Weapons
Unless othewise requested, all of my hilts and baskets come with built-in clamps so installation is a snap. For those who do prefer TAPING TANGS instead, I also offer that option. There are a lot of different variations and combinations that can be done, includihng TAPING TANGS, CLAMPS, integrated "FRAME HILTS", POWDER COATING etc. If you'd like info about some combination you don't see, please ask.
Prices reflect the standard finish, which is brushed plain steel. Hilts can optionally be media blasted or powder-coated.
They will accomodate rattan up to 1-3/8" diameter at the hilt. They are MIG
welded and nice and symmetrical.
I offer a few different styles of pommels to go with the different quillon sets. These really help to finish off the look of a rattan sword, but more importantly, they add some end weight to help balance the weapon. You can also add a stack of fender washers on the end of the rattan before attaching the pommel if you want even more weight.
*POWDER-COATING: This is a paint-like finish, but is actually a tough, baked-on polyester coating. Price is generally ~$9 per individual hilt item, but I make it up on the fly depending on how many other things I might need to do at the same time and the relative amount of work involved. Default color is either semi-gloss or matte black. About any color is possible, but the price point goes up sharply for colors that I don't have on hand, due to minimum orders, extra s/h, color changes in the machine, etc. If you don't opt for the PC, parts will come with a plain steel finish and you can paint them yourself.
